Cedarville snatches AMC crown from NDC

South Euclid, OH (03-30-2010): Cedarville University scored on a driving lay-up with 3.5 seconds left to edge Notre Dame College 74-73 victory in the championship game of the American Mideast Conference (AMC) Tournament last night. In another battle of Jamaican players, center Karim McFarlane, playing at home, got the better of the rivalry after scoring 15 points in 7-of-9 shooting in a losing effort. Forward Ricardo Alliman, who was triple-teamed throughout, still managed to score eight points, grab nine boards, and reject three shots for Cedarville. The victory earned the Yellow Jackets an automatic bid to the 19th Annual NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship on March 10-16 in Point Lookout, Missouri, and are going in having won nine straight and 15 of their last 16 outings. Cedarville will be making its seventh NAIA national tournament appearance in the last eight years and its fourth in a row.
