CRUISE SHIP PASSENGER REPORTED MISSING

Thirty-four year-old Christophe Thomas of Capri Drive, St. Louis Missouri, USA has been reported missing since Thursday, January 21.

Reports received by the CCN are that about 3:00 p.m., Thomas who was a passenger on a cruise ship exited at the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) pier in Ocho Rios and has not been seen or heard from since. His mode of dress is not known.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Christophe Thomas is being asked to contact the Ocho Rios Police at 974-2533, police 119 emergency numbers or the nearest police station.

BODY FOUND IN CAR IN ST. JAMES

The body of a 19-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds in his car at Central Avenue, Flankers, St. James yesterday.

It has been identified as that of Romeo Heath of Lilliput in the parish.

Reports received by the CCN are that about 1:00 p.m., residents heard explosions in the area and summoned the police. On their arrival, the bullet-riddled body of Heath was seen on the back seat of his Honda civic motor car. The crime scene was processed by the officers and the body removed to the morgue for post mortem.

The Montego Bay CIB is investigating.

THREE MEN SHOT- ONE FATALLY IN NEW KINGSTON

Three men were shot, one fatally by unknown assailants at Holborn Road in New Kingston last night.

The dead man who is unidentified is of dark complexion, slim build and about 167 centimeters (5 feet 6 inches) long. His body was clad in black T shirt, green pants and multi-coloured sneakers. The ages of the injured men are 27 and 26.

The CCN is reporting that about 9:00 p.m., the men were among a group standing at the side of the road when a grey Honda Fit motor car drove up. Occupants of the vehicle opened gunfire at the group, hitting the three before driving away. The injured men were taken to hospital where the unidentified man was pronounced dead and the 27-year-old admitted in stable condition. The other man was treated and released.

WOMAN SHOT DEAD IN KINGSTON 11

Thirty-two year-old Sabrina Bennett of Psalms Avenue, Kingston 11 was fatally shot by unknown assailant/s at her home yesterday.

Reports received by the CCN are that about 10:45 a.m., citizens heard explosions and called the police. Investigators who went to the area discovered the body with gunshot wounds. It was removed to the morgue following the processing of the crime scene by the officers.

The Hunts Bay CIB is investigating.

ALLEGED ROBBER KILLED IN SHOOTOUT WITH COPS –ANOTHER INJURED – FIREARM SEIZED

Two alleged robbers were shot, one fatally during a shootout with police at Gutters, Bushy Park, St. Catherine yesterday. An illegal firearm was also seized in the incident.

The dead man, believed to be in the early twenties, is of brown complexion, slim build and about 163 centimetres (5 feet 4 inches) long, while injured is a 31-year-old man of an Old Harbour address.

The CCN is reporting that about 5:30 p.m., three men armed with guns robbed persons at an establishment in the area before escaping in a waiting motor car. Police were alerted and they went in search of the men. The alleged robbers were seen aboard a motor vehicle along Sharper Lane and pursued by the officers. The vehicle eventually crashed and the men alighted and opened gunfire at the lawmen. The fire was returned and the two men were shot. A 9mm pistol – serial number erased – with a magazine containing six 9mm cartridges was seized. The injured men were taken to hospital where the unidentified man was pronounced dead and the other admitted under police guard.

SLEUTHS INVESTIGATE MAN’S DEATH

Detectives from the Black River CIB in St. Elizabeth have commenced investigations into the death of a 20-year-old fisherman, whose body was found at Holland Estate in the parish yesterday.

Dead is Tyson Braham of Holland Village in the parish.

Reports received by the CCN are that about 7:30 a.m., residents saw Braham’s body in a trench on the estate and called the police. Investigators who went to the area examined the body but found no marks of violence. It was removed to the morgue for postmortem following the processing of the scene by the officers. Braham was reported missing on Thursday, January 21, after he did not return from a fishing trip.

Investigations continue.

COPS SEIZE RIFLE IN GLENDEVON – FOUR MEN ARRESTED

Police arrested four men in connection with the seizure of an assault rifle at Bottom Pen, Glendevon, St. James yesterday.

Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.

The CCN’s Liaison Officer for the parish is reporting that about 10:30 a.m., police searched a premises during operations in the area. The rifle – serial number erased and make unknown – was found near the perimeter fencing of the property. The four men were taken into custody.

HOUSE DAMAGED BY ARSONIST IN ST. ELIZABETH

A man allegedly set fire to an 11 apartment house damaging three of it rooms at New Building district, Nain, St. Elizabeth on Friday January 22.

Information received by the CCN is that about 10:45 a.m., occupants of the house heard a bang at the front door and went to investigate. They reportedly saw a man enter the kitchen and set it on fire, before fleeing from the premises. The fire quickly engulfed the room and spread to two others. The police and fire brigade were summoned. One unit from the Junction Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze.

Loss is estimated at $1M. The house is not insured.

MAN KILLED IN RIVERTON CITY

An unidentified man was killed by unknown assailant/s at “Tile City”, Riverton City, Kingston 11 yesterday.

His body is of dark complexion, slim build and about 170 centimetres (5 feet 7 inches) long. It was clad in black jeans pants, blue shirt, grey merino and black sneakers.

Reports received by the CCN are that about 4:30 p.m., residents heard explosions and called the police. Investigators who went to the area discovered the man’s body with gunshot and stab wounds. They processed the crime scene and the body was removed to the morgue for post mortem and identification.

The Major Investigations Taskforce is investigating.

MAN KILLED DURING DISPUTE WITH ANOTHER

Twenty-one year-old Andrew Williams of Byndloss, Linstead, St. Catherine was killed during a dispute with another man in his community last night.

Reports received by the CCN are that about 8:43 p.m., Williams and the other man had an argument during which a piece of iron was used to strike him in the head repeatedly. He was taken to the Linstead Hospital where he died.

Detectives from the Linstead Police Station are seeking a man known as “Jason” whom they believe can assist in the investigations.

TWO MEN ARRESTED FOR FIREARM

Two men were arrested in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm at “Abby Labby Lane”, Knightsville, Yallahs, St. Thomas yesterday.

Their names are being withheld pending further investigations.

Reports from the CCN’s Liaison Officer for St. Thomas are that between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., a police team carried out an operation in the area. During the exercise a house was searched and a 9mm pistol – serial number PO3761 – with a magazine containing nine cartridges was found. The men who were at the premises were taken into custody.

The Flying Squad is investigating.
