New Years eve came and went, and New Years day is here. Of course Jamaican criminals contributed their acts of violence snuffing out lives on new years eve and on new years day. Below are the persons who were fortunate to make it to New Years eve, having seen Christmas and those just making it to see New Years Day 2010.
MAN SHOT AND KILLED IN KINGSTON 3
A 31-year-old man was shot and killed by unknown assailant/s at the National Arena, Independence Park, Kingston 3 this morning.
Dead is Patrick McDonald otherwise called “Kingman”, of Brooklyn Avenue, Cromarty, St. Catherine.
The CCN is reporting that about 5:15 a.m., McDonald was among patrons leaving a function at the arena when explosions were heard. His body was later seen with multiple gunshot wounds. The police were summoned and on their arrival a team from the Major Investigations Taskforce (MIT) processed the crime scene. The body was removed to the morgue for post mortem.
The MIT and Half Way Tree CIB are investigating.
MAN KILLED IN MANCHESTER
A 29-year-old man was shot and killed by unknown assailants at Comfort district, Manchester this morning.
Dead is Michael Thomas of Comfort district.
The CCN is reporting that about 9:15 a.m., Thomas was involved in a dispute with a group of men who shot him. He was taken to the Mandeville Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A police team went to the area and processed the crime scene.
The Mandeville Police are investigating.
SLEUTHS INVESTIGATE MAN’S DEATH
The Kingston Central CIB has commenced investigations into the shooting death of a 23-year-old man on Lissant Road, Kingston CSO this morning.
Dead is Joel Johnson of Pleasant Hill, St. Mary.
The CCN is reporting that about 2:00 a.m., residents heard explosions and called the police. Investigators who went to the area saw Johnson’s body with several gunshot wounds on the roadway. They processed the crime scene and the body was removed to the morgue for post mortem.
Investigations continue.
SECURITY FORCES SEIZE FIREARM IN KINGSTON
A joint police-military team seized a firearm and a quantity of ammunition at Georges Lane, Kingston CSO last night. No arrest was made in connection with the seizure.
The CCN is reporting that about 10:25 p.m., the security forces were on patrol in the area when they saw a man who ran onto a nearby premises. They gave chase, but were eluded by the man. A search of the area yielded a Taurus 9MM pistol – serial number TRD93334 – with a magazine containing twenty 9mm cartridges.
The Kingston Central CIB is investigating.
DECOMPOSING BODY FOUND IN BOGWALK
The decomposing body of an unidentified male was found in bushes at Waterloo district, Content, Bog walk, St. Catherine yesterday.
The dead man who is believed to be in the mid twenties was clad in blue jeans pants and black shoes.
The CCN is reporting that about 11:00 a.m., residents discovered the body in bushes and summoned the police. The lawmen arrived and observed that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition. An on-the-spot post mortem proved inconclusive and an immediate burial was ordered by the pathologist.
The Bog Walk Police are investigating.
SHOPKEEPER SHOT AND KILLED IN CLARENDON
The May Pen Homicide Unit has commenced investigations into the shooting death of a man at Canaan Heights, Clarendon last night.
Dead is Lloyd Davis, 66, of Canaan Heights.
Reports received by the CCN are that about 8:20 p.m., citizens heard explosions and went to investigate. They found Mr. Davis suffering from gunshot wounds inside his shop. He was assisted to the May Pen Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The scene was processed.
Investigations continue.
POLICE INVESTIGATE GUN MURDER IN ST. ELIZABETH
Detectives from the Junction CIB in St. Elizabeth have commenced investigations into the shooting death of a 22-year-old man at Nembhard Town, Junction, in the parish yesterday.
Dead is Fabian Perkins of Nembhard Town.
The CCN is reporting that about 7:55 a.m., Perkins was walking along a roadway in the community when he was pounced upon by unknown assailant/s and shot. He died on the spot. The crime scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue.
Investigations continue.
MAN SHOT AND KILLED IN OLD HARBOUR
Twenty-two year-old Ricardo Goulbourne of Spring Village, Old Harbour, St. Catherine was shot and killed by an unknown assailant at his home this morning.
The CCN is reporting that about 12:05 a.m., Goulbourne was at home with a female companion when he was called outside by a man who opened fire hitting him before escaping. He was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he died while being treated. The female escaped injury.
The Old Harbour CIB is investigating.
